Head Coach - John Schropp

  • ​​Former Division III field hockey player for Catawba College in Salisbury, NC

  • First Slapper in all of Hampton Roads (Started Slapping in 1993) and was trained by the University of Arizona's coaching Staff

  • 15 years of coaching experience in the Hampton Roads Area

  • Has coached 10u trough 18u travel softball

  • 2006 12u Team finished 2nd at AAU Nationals

  • 2012 16u Team finished 5th in ASA 18A Eastern Nationals

  • Her teams have won several tournament championships and state championships

  • Several of her players have played or are currently playing at the collegiate level! 

  • Coach Schropp's Friedm and Legacy Co-Founder, Coach Standish brought Coach Schropp into the travel Ball world to help him coach the 16u Orion Hunter team!
  • Coach Schropp and Coach Standish worked together to save the Organization from folding when they fell onto hard times. 
  • Under their leadership, Orion Hunter was able to turn a corner and become a more established organization. 
  • in 2006. after several successful season coaching the Orion Hunter 18u team,  was on sound financial foundation, Coach Schropp and Coach Standish decided it was time to retire
  • Their softball retirement was short lived and 6 months later they began the Galaxy of Stars Organization. Coach Schropp and Coach Standish took a group of rough 10u and 14u  ball players and transformed them into ball players good enough that every one of the seniors from that team went to college on a softball scholarship​!!​
  • Shortly thereafter, the Galaxy of Stars joined forces with the Virginia Legends Fastpitch team. This was a successful union for a while, but eventually Coach Schropp and Coach Standish felt it was time for the Virginia Legacy to be born! (Once a Legend…Now creating a Legacy)
  • Through the years that Coach Schropp and Coach Standish coached together, they have maintained a 75% winning record! 
  • Their teams have qualified and played in several National Championships, including ASA/USA  “A” and ASA Gold.
  • Every girl that played for one of Coach Schropp’s and Coach Standish’s teams that wanted to play softball in college has received the opportunity to do so.
  • Coach Schropp is a long time member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) certified as a two star coach.  
  • He is also certified  by the AmericanCoaches Association, Accredited by ASA as Certified Coach at the Continuing Education Level​
  • ​​Began his coaching career over 60 years ago as a young, eager 19 year old!

  • Was the head coach of a highly successful AAU Swim Team in the Mid-West before going the Navy!

  • During his Naval career as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Officer, Coach Schropp played, coached, and umpired softball games!

  • The  first Vice President of Plaza Little League in Virginia Beach (there were very few travel teams in the Hampton Roads Area during that time).​
